This photo shows the father of Theo & Albert. He too was a trombonist in various bands at the time. His name was Theofiel, which is why Theo, who was first called “Little Theo”, later used “Teddy Mertens” as his stage name. Afterwards, he went through life as Theo, but his real name was Louis.
